Roy has an outstanding tennis background as a player, teacher, professional, and administrator. He won numerous national titles as a junior player out of San Diego, California. He earned a BA in Economics from UCLA. As an All-American, he reached the doubles semi-finals and finals of the NCAA Championship. Barth was ranked as high as #8 in singles and #2 in doubles and reached the Top 50 in the world in men’s singles on the pro tour. He settled in Charleston in 1976, as Director of Tennis at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Currently, Barth manages two tennis centers with 28 courts at Kiawah. Kiawah’s tennis operation has been ranked #1 in the United States of the Top 50 US Tennis Resorts by Tennis magazine and #1 in the world by TennisResortsOnline.com Barth was a founding member of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), as well as President of the USTA South Carolina and Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation. In 2007, his family was named USTA Family of the Year. Barth has been a PTR member for more than 20 years. He was honored PTR Professional of the Year in 1990, and was selected as a PTR Master Professional in 2007.
