GPTCA represented in Switzerland

Swiss Davis Cup Captain Severin Lüthi has joined forces with the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association. He assumes the role of President of Switzerland and will start next year to conduct courses in his country. His deep knowledge of professional tennis, his experience as a Davis Cup Captain and as Roger Federer’s coach has turned him into one of the most passionate, skilled and talented coaches in the tennis business. His wonderful attitude and professionalism are very well known qualities that his colleagues and players recognize.

Severin is committed to bring on the courses for all the Swiss coaches who need to be up-to-date with professional tennis: “Tennis has changed very much during the last two decades, and it has been a true privilege to be a part of this evolution in the last years and it is great to have the opportunity to share this experience with my colleagues in Switzerland. I hope this will be very helpful to them and I look forward to start the courses in 2014.”

Severin is a Bern native, born on 5 January 1976, same year as Kuerten and Norman, whom he beat during a successful junior career. After several professional years, he started coaching and was appointed Davis Cup Assistant Captain in 2002 and Davis Cup Captain in 2005. He worked with Stan Wawrinka when he was travelling without a coach and he has currently been helping Roger Federer since 2007.

GPTCA President Alberto Castellani said: “Severin is a great coach and a very nice person and we are delighted to welcome him on board of our team. We look forward to his courses and learn his style and knowledge, as he adds enthusiasm and commitment to the Association.”
