Message from the President

Founded two years ago at the famous Nino Tuscany’s restaurant in New York City, the GPTCA has just completed a second successful year of growth and recognition. As you know, our main goal is to bring together coaches from all over the world in one association, provide ongoing educational training for them and represent their interests. I’m very honored to be in charge of the GPTCA and deeply appreciate your trust in choosing me as your president.

Thanks to the collaboration with world-class tennis coaching experts and our national presidents, all GPTCA courses exemplify our commitment to high quality work. The ATP itself, with which we entered into a prestigious partnership earlier this year, has recently recognized the quality of our efforts in the words of Brad Drewett, ATP executive and president.

Our official website (www.gptcatennis.org) is being updated with fresh photos, news stories and information on a daily basis, so keep visiting it! Its MemberOnly section will undoubtedly allow every coach to advance his own career by using didactic materials, books, handouts, DVDs, videos and technical advice from the best coaches in the world. And this is just a taste of what’s to come.

I would like to thank our Board Members, our Communications Director, our staff and all those who participated in the GPTCA courses in Thailand, Italy, Germany, Singapore, China - both as speakers and attendees. 3-day courses were designed to be intellectually intensive and stimulating with many subjects covered – all in an atmosphere of internationalism and culture.

Our goals for the next year include organizing many more courses all over the world (the schedule of courses will be posted on the website shortly and will be updated to reflect developments during the year); expanding our partnerships to include the WTA, PTR and other organizations willing to cooperate; working to improve our website and benefits offered; strengthening our partnership with the Newport Research University (Florida) to enable coaches to gain a degree in ‘Coaching in Sport’.

I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Alberto Castellani

President, GPTCA
